Troy graduated from East Carolina University in 1995 and began his law enforcement career as a Park Ranger for North Carolina State Parks. In 2006, Troy was hired by the Pittsboro Police Department. He was promoted to Community Police Officer in 2009 and Captain in 2017. Troy has completed numerous training courses during his career and holds an Advanced Law Enforcement Certification.
